A shaken passenger has told of her harrowing experience after a “thoughtless” Uber driver put on Capital FM during her journey last night, without even checking if it was OK for him to do so.
Elephant and Castle resident Vanessa Harding says she’s still in shock after the incident yesterday, which took place during her 32-minute journey back home from Finsbury Park.
Harding told The London Gonzo that for the first ten minutes of her journey there was blissful silence, and her driver maintained the common decency not to try and speak to her, while she was content in the back seat, silently scrolling social networking website Instagram.
She then claims that suddenly, and without warning – let alone asking her, A PAYING CUSTOMER, if it was OK – the driver just turned on the London station, which was in the middle of a breaking news update about the Love Island beef between Cara and Olivia.
“I don’t have a problem with Rita Ora’s new single, per se, it’s just that it’s late, I’m tired, tired, and I was really looking forward to a relaxing, quiet journey home for which the 1.4 surcharge was totally worth accepting” said Vanessa, recalling the £17 journey.
“I managed to say ‘thanks mate, have a good night’ without breaking down in tears, and finally escaped the vehicle, but I had ‘Shape of You’ haunting my eardrums well into the next afternoon.
“I still have no idea what a Shawn Mendes is, but tell you what, I’ll never EVER again go with a driver whose rating has dipped below 4.7 Stars.”
